As Christians, we are entering a very important time on our calendar that is referred to as Holy Week or Passion Week. On this Palm Sunday, we focus on Matthew’s account of the Triumphal entry. The Triumphal entry was the prophetically significant day when our Lord Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey about a week before His crucifixion. Approximately 500 years before it happened, the prophet Zechariah prophesied that our King would enter Jerusalem having salvation and riding on a donkey. The implications for this is huge and Jesus did indeed lay down His life for our salvation.
